One rosary pea seed (Abrus precatorius) holds enough abrin to kill a child if it's chewed. Jewellers in India once used the same seeds to weigh gold. This short film uses that seed to show how the Australian Institute of Pharmacognosy works: take traditional plant knowledge seriously, then test it against the clinical record and publish what holds up and what doesn't.

The Institute is an independent not-for-profit based in Cardwell, far north Queensland. It sells no herbs and nobody on staff earns a commission on a herbal product.
