The Australian Institute of Pharmacognosy acknowledges the Girramay People, Traditional Owners of the land in and around Cardwell, where the Institute is based. We also acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands across Australia where members of our team live and work.
We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Knowledge of plants
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have known and cared for the plants of this continent for many thousands of years. That knowledge belongs to its custodians. Consistent with the purposes in our Constitution, which include protecting, preserving and appropriately acknowledging traditional knowledge of medicinal plants, the Institute:
- will not knowingly publish Indigenous cultural knowledge without the free, prior and informed consent of its custodians;
- will acknowledge the people and communities a piece of knowledge comes from; and
- welcomes contact from Traditional Owners and Indigenous organisations about anything we publish. Email our contact form.
